Murdoch a No Show, Defies UK Parliament

Rupert Murdoch is plainly feeling the heat.   He closed News of the World and dropped (for now) his bid to buy BSkyB cable but, despite previous assurances by News Corp subsidiary, News International that Rupe would comply with Parliament's summons, he's now backed out.   As for Rupert's boy, James Murdoch, he's now saying he is much too busy to make it next Tuesday but could, perhaps, manage an appearance next month if that's convenient.

It sure looks like Rupert is worried about something far worse than a few angry questions and denunciations from British MPs.   My guess is that he's worried his answers might be used to launch investigations in the United States into his operations, particularly possible corruption allegations.
