Oh America's Right Will Have a Field Day With This

Americans will choose their next president in 2016.   That, according to the OECD, will also be the year that China overtakes the United States to become the world's largest economy.

Four more years, four more years, four more years.   We're Number One, no...  We're Number Two, We're Number Two.   Well you get the picture.

To a nation where half the population can be made to believe just about anything, especially about a black guy, the linkage is bound to go down like honey and wine.

Obama, China.   Obama, China.   Obama, China.   The graphics department at FOX News is probably busy on this already.

The Paris-based Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) said China's economy will be larger than the combined economies of the eurozone countries by the end of this year, and will overtake the US by the end of 2016.

Global GDP will grow by 3% a year over the next 50 years, it says, but there will be large variations between countries and regions. By 2025, it says the combined GDP of China and India will be bigger than that of France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, US and Canada put together. Asa Johansson, senior economist at the OECD, said: "It is quite a shift in the balance of economic power we are going to see in the future."

So, let's recap.   A major transition in global power will be upon us in 2016.  Symbolic, mainly, to be sure but these things have a way of morphing.   A decade after that the economy of Asia will exceed that of the Western world.

We're all in for some pretty Wal-Mart sized adjustments and that's the sort of thing that can fuel tensions among countries and their peoples.   Yet we're paving the path to this realignment with major arms races with the country most prominent in being overtaken ever more insistent on retaining absolute military supremacy, even at ruinous cost.   Sounds like a formula for a stable, peaceful transition of power and influence, eh?

This is no time for nationalistic resentment and partisan jingoism but with the collapse of social cohesion in the States it's hard to imagine the opportunity being passed over.

So, Obama it is.   He presided over the decline of the United States.   He, a black man, enabled the yellow man to overtake the white man.   It writes itself.
